Charms of The North

Overview

Discover the north of the island differently, starting with a visit of Goodlands local market to meet the locals and experience life in a small village. Proceed to one of the oldest shipreplica-making factories before a glimpse at the colonial past of Mauritius with the wonderfully renovated Chateau de Labourdonnais. An exquisite lunch will be served at La Table du Chateau. After lunch, Pamplemousses botanical garden is a must, most of its rare plant species were brought in by the French Botanist Pierre Poivre in the XVII th century and it is the oldest Botanical Garden of the southern hemisphere. Once at Cap Malheureux, further on, there will be a short photo stop to capture the tiny red roofed church and listen to a short story of the British invasion of the island with their Armada kept behind Gunner’s Point.
